Jeep Steel Wheels by CRAGAR

Hot rodding and off roading simply would not be what you expect if it were not for CRAGAR Wheels.  CRAGAR is a legend that began in the 1960s with hot rodding.  Through the years, they have built some of the most legendary wheels in the industry and have become not just a leader in the field but also an icon.

For example, take a look at the CRAGAR S/S.  This wheel has almost what one might call rock star status but for the wheel industry.  Many companies have mimicked the design of this wheel and only changed it by giving it a shape that was slightly different or by using a different material.

CRAGAR itself makes quite a few different styles of this wheel.  You can get it as the original S/S as well as in various other styles and even with aluminum finishes.  The modern version is called 500 Series Eliminator and there is also an ultra-modern version of this wheel that is called 600 Series S/S.  All of these wheels have a 5 spoke design and the main difference lies in the shape of the spokes.

aFe Mach Force XP Cat – Back Exhaust System

The exhaust systems in the aFe Mach Fore XP series give you a sound that is powerful yet mellow.  They look extremely aggressive and are resistant to corrosion.  In most cases, these exhaust systems are made from 409 stainless steel.  That said, the BMW applications as well as the one for the Ford Ranger are made from 304 stainless steel.  The Jeep applications don’t have a tips.  BMW applications have carbon fiber tips and all other applications feature polished stainless steel tips.

Recently, this system was tested and was able to produce torque at 8 pounds x feet as well as 4 horsepower.  Made from stainless steel that has been mandrel bent, it is TIG welded and has a brushed stainless finish.  In order to maximize the performance across the entire power band while keeping a great tone, a single in, dual out high flow stainless steel muffler was utilized.  Finishing off this exhaust are laser etched 3 inch stainless steel tips.  In order for this system to be installed, there is some cutting required and as such it should only be installed by a professional.  That said, it is installed using all of the factory installed hanger locations.

When you use this system, you can get an exhaust flow that is 57 percent improved when compared to your factory exhaust system.  Made from stainless steel that has been mandrel bent, it also utilizes and includes band clamps, bayonet style hangers and all of the hardware necessary for a safe and secure installation.

It is important to remember that this particular series of exhaust systems is available for multiple applications.  As such, some of them come with a 3 inch pipe while others have other sizes.  Some of them are dual inlet – center out while others are single inlet – dual outlet styles.  Other differences by application include installation.  Some applications feature an easy installation while others may require a bit of cutting.

Differences aside, the seals on this system are leak free.  There are very high quality flange and band clamps in the OE style.  These are used to obtain a sealing surface that is 360 degrees in order to eliminate any possible leak paths.

As far as sound and/or tone goes, it is one that is aggressive.  The muffler used is a free flowing, straight through one and it absorbs higher pitched tones.  This leaves you with a sound that is powerful while it also makes the most of your torque and horsepower.

Jeep Antenna Kits

Many Jeepers like to have a CB radio in their Jeep.  A Citizen Band radio is a type of radio that is able to send and receive transmission with the assistance of a CB radio antenna.  You will typically find that the radio itself and the antenna are sold separately. 

That said, it is possible to get a kit that contains the antenna and everything else that you will need in order to install it properly.  Alternatively, if you already have an antenna installed and are just looking for a replacement antenna, you can also find the antennas being sold separately. 

An antenna of this type basically has 2 main jobs. 

  1. The first thing that an antenna needs to be able to do is to receive the inbound signals and then to forward them on to the receiver on the CB so that they can be converted into electrical signals.
  2. When transmissions are going out from the CB, the antenna needs to be able to convert those signals to radio signals before sending them out to be received by another radio in another location.

All of this is called the transmitting function.  This is the crucial purpose of an antenna.

It is important that when you are searching for an antenna, you get one that will be right for the job.  See, different wavelengths are necessary to be able to send and receive different signals.  If you are able to tune your antenna correctly, the wavelength will be able to perfectly coincide with the various frequencies that it needs to transmit. 

The formula to determine the proper length is as follows:

  • 984/frequency megahertz = wavelength feet

Frequencies for CB radios generally begin at 25.01 megahertz.  For an antenna to be able to transmit on the full wavelength, it would need to be just a hair over 39.34 feet.  A bit much?  Yes.  Antenna lengths that are common are fractions of that.  For example they are 1/2, 5/8, ¼ and even 1/8 of the total wavelength.  Quarter wave antennas that are frequently seen on Jeeps are typically just below 10 feet in length.

Today’s CB radios generally have more than 40 channels.  Each channel works at a different frequency.  This means that to be able to properly use each channel, you would need a different antenna.  However, that being a bit of a stretch, antenna manufacturers tend to make antennas that fall right in the center of the frequencies so that they can get the most use.

In order to work, you must adjust the antenna and the SWR until you get clear reception.  Once you have done that, you will be able to use your CB radio any time you feel the need.
